New Business of the Year
Quinte Patient Transfer Service
Quinte Patient Transfer Service (QPTS) is a locally owned patient service that was established in January of 2005 to alleviate pressure on the heavily burdened EMS system. Starting with two employees, a number which has growth to eight, QPTS strives to make every transfer easy and comfortable for their patients. QPTS attributes its success to referrals from medical professionals and previous clients. |
 |
Quinte Patient Transfer Service is also very involved in the community, donating its resources to many different organizations including sports teams and local service groups.

PRESS
RELEASE: May 2, 2005
Quinte
Region has a New Patient Transfer Service!
Quinte
residents who require a non-urgent/non-medical transfer will have a choice.
Trenton,
ON, May 2, 2005: The Quinte region will now be getting new help to keep health
care in motion. Steve Andrews, owner/operator of Quinte Patient Transfer
Service (QPTS) says, like most other communities across Ontario, the Emergency
Medical Services (EMS) in Quinte need help in meeting the demand for patient transfers.
The demand on our EMS for non-urgent transfers continues to grow, to the point
that it is impossible for them to attend each and every one. Emergency calls are
their first priority and patient transfer services can assist with the increased
client demand to take some of the pressure off the existing services.
QPTS is locally owned and its services
are designed to meet the demands of this community. The crews are highly qualified
professionals, committed to providing services in a comfortable, clean, safe and
friendly manner. While the patient transfer unit looks like an ambulance both
inside and out it does not contain the same emergency equipment. Instead it features
a customized array of essential medical equipment to support a comfortable, secure
transfer. These vehicles are not intended to replace ambulance services but rather
to augment them by providing an alternative service for non-emergency patients
needing stretchers and other specialized equipment.
Steve
Andrews is a recently retired Airforce Search and Rescue Technician who
has spent the last 25 years working in the medical field. He is a nationally qualified
paramedic and an Advanced first aid instructor/CPR instructor. He is fully committed
to the Quinte Region and is currently the vice-president of the Trenton Kiwanis
Club and the Chairman of the famed Walleye Weekend Fishing Derby.
QPTS will be operating within the Quinte region and points beyond to support
local transfer requirements starting May 2, 2005. Steve is pleased to offer his
experience and skill to the continuance of better health care services in the
community in which we live.
